Healthy Peanut Butter Ice Cream (without Ninja Creami)
I literally can’t believe that it’s just 2 ingredients, no cream or anything, and it’s so rich and creamy. And I love that it can be eaten straight from the blender as a soft ice cream or kept in the fridge for a firmer ice cream.

Do you need a special machine like a Ninja Creami to make this?
Not at all! A regular blender or food processor is all you need. As long as your bananas are fully frozen, they’ll blend down into that creamy soft-serve texture on their own.
Is this ice cream vegan?
Yes, 100%. There’s no dairy, no eggs, just frozen bananas and peanut butter. Completely plant-based.
Is this ice cream lactose free?
Yes! Since there’s no dairy of any kind, it’s naturally lactose free.
Can I use almond butter instead of peanut butter?
Absolutely. Any nut or seed butter works: almond, cashew, sunflower seed. Each one gives a slightly different flavour but the same creamy texture.
How ripe should the bananas be before freezing?
The riper the better. Spotty, very ripe bananas are naturally sweeter, which means your nice cream needs nothing else to taste like dessert.
How long can I store it in the freezer?
Up to 2 weeks. Let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes before scooping if it gets too firm.

Ingredients
Frozen Bananas
- Why They’re Used: They’re the base of the nice cream, when blended from frozen, they break down into a naturally thick, creamy texture that mimics real ice cream without any dairy.
- Benefits: A good source of natural sugar for quick energy, potassium, vitamin B6 and fibre.
- Substitute: Frozen mango chunks work for a tropical version, though the texture will be slightly less creamy.
Peanut Butter
- Why It’s Used: Adds richness, depth of flavour and a boost of protein that makes this feel more like a proper dessert than just blended fruit.
- Benefits: High in healthy fats, protein and magnesium. Keeps you fuller for longer.
- Substitute: Any nut or seed butter works: almond butter for a lighter flavour, cashew butter for extra creaminess, or sunflower seed butter to keep it nut-free.
