Equipment

  • 8 inch Cake pan (20cm)

Ingredients

Crumble

  • 3 cups rye flour
  • 5 tbsp coconut sugar
  • 4 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup water more if needed
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Filling

  • 4 small apples (or 2 big)
  • 1 tbsp coconut sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

Crumble

  • In a bowl, combine 3 cups of rye flour, 6 tbsp of coconut sugar, and 1 tsp of cinnamon.
  • Add 4 tbsp of coconut oil to the dry ingredients and mix until the mixture becomes crumbly.
  • Gradually add 1/2 cup of water, mixing until a dough forms. If the dough is too dry, add a bit more water, one tbsp at a time.
  • Press ¾ of the dough into the dish.

Filling

  • Slice the apples.
  • In a bowl, toss the apple slices with 2 tbsp of coconut sugar and 1/2 tsp of cinnamon.
  • Add apple slices to the pie crust.
  • Sprinkle with leftover dough.

Baking & Serving

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Bake the pie for 20-30 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
  • Best served hot!
  • For an extra touch, you can add a dollop of vanilla cream made with coconut sour cream, coconut sugar, and vanilla bean powder.

Notes

Serving: For an extra touch, serve it with vanilla cream made of coconut sour cream (I use Planton), coconut sugar and vanilla bean pod.
